Who was the first R & B artist? Research Design: Rhythm and Blues had started in the 1940's and continued to today. We have different roles in our group. Khalil is researching how Rhythm and Blues started and how it was popular. Also who was influence the most during the time and who was the most known Rhythm & BLues artist. Chris is looking at different types of Rhythm & Blues artists through the different time eras. He's comparing for example Anita Baker and Brian McKnight. Just how different the lyrics and beat might be to each other. Brianna will be researching the famous or well known artists through the R&B era. Why were they famous or what were they well famous for. Together we will have a well put together and well teaching project about Rhythm & Blues.

Our thesis is that Rhythm & Blues - R & B originated from jazz or another slow beat type of music. Started in about the 1940s by African Americans.
Findings:
Rhythm & Blues (R&B) is a type of music made popular by African Americans in the post- World War ll period. "Blues and rhythm" was the term RCA Victor used in 1948 to market what used to be called "race music". The precursors of rhythm and blues came from jazz and blues, which overlapped in the 1930's through musicians such Lerroy Carr, Cab Calloway, Count Basie, and T-Bone Walker. In 1948, Louis Jordan dominated the top five listings of the R&B charts with 3 songs.
